Africa Soccer WCQ: Queiroz Delighted With Egypt Narrow Win Against Libya

Egypt manager Carlos Queiroz was delighted with the victory against Libya in their FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday.

The Pharaohs earned their second win against the Mediterranean Knights at Borg El-Arab,  Egypt courtesy of a lone goal by debutant Omar Marmoush.

Egypt dominated the game but failed to score more than one goal.

But Queiroz who took over the helm of affairs as Egyptian national team in his post-match conference was optimistic his side deserved the victory.

Without a doubt, we deserved the three points. We played good football and that’s what I expected before the game.

“I think there had to be more goals scored. The players were focused against Libya were fighting for every ball.

Our performance was good and we caused them problems, and without a doubt, we deserved to win.

“The Egyptian players are doing their best, and preparations for the next match against Libya have started from now on.

” The group is difficult and the game was not easy.

The manager turned his focus to Monday’s return leg against Libya but warned that Libya will be tough to play in their home.

The next game is starting now. We have to recover well, get rest and prepare ourselves to play in a different atmosphere.

“I am sure Libya will fight in their stadium to regain the top spot,” he added.

With Friday’s win, Egypt top Group F with seven points from three game while Libya are second with six points .
