Ghana GPL Legend Charles Taylor Believes No Ghana Club Can Win Any Caf Competitions Now

Ghana Premier League (GPL) clubs have struggled to make a meaningful impact in Africa competition. Hearts of Oak, who are representing the country in Africa were crashed out from the Champions League playoffs, losing 6-2 on aggregates scoreline against Wydad Athletic Club in Casablanca.

The Phobians have dropped to the Confederations Cup and will play Algerian side, JS Saoura in the playoffs.

But the former Hearts of Oak forward in an interview emphatically reiterated that there is no club in the West African country that can win any Africa competition.

According to him, clubs in Ghana are not able to keep players beyond two seasons. This makes it difficult to build a formidable side to compete for trophies.

No team in Ghana can win any Caf competition. Because they cannot keep players for two seasons.” He told Accra based Atinka FM.

The last time a Ghanaian club won any African trophy was Hearts of Oak in 2004, where they defeated Asante Kotoko to lift the Confederations Cup.
