Qatar 2022 Mapeza out to restore Zimbabwe pride in World Cup qualifiers

Zimbabwe interim coach Norman Mapeza has said he wants the Warriors to restore their pride in the remaining academic World Cup qualifiers.

Zimbabwe travel to face South Africa on November 11 then welcome Ethiopia three days later.

The Warriors are out of the qualification race.

Zimbabwe drew 0-0 with South Africa in Harare and went on to lose 1-0 in Ethiopia.

Ahead of the matches, Mapeza said he wants to restore pride of the team while building for the future.

“It’s all about assessment and building a team for the AFCON tournament next year,” he told Zimbabwe FA facebook page.

We need to restore our pride and make Warriors fans believe in our national team again. We also need to start building a team for the future.

“That is why we have called in some local players, young players and some senior players for these last 2 World Cup qualifiers.”

Senior players like skipper Knowledge Musona and Teenage Hadebe are out due to injury.
