Africa Soccer Algeria through to World Cup qualifiers play-offs round after draw vs Burkina Faso

Algeria book their ticket for the play-offs round of the World Cup qualifiers following their 2-2 draw against Burkina Faso on Tuesday at Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida.

The Fennecs have been shaken by the Stallions despite their early opener in the 21st minute as Riyad Mahrez converted from a lovely assist of Youcef Belaili.

Kamou Malo’s men equalized in the 37th minute with Zakaria Sanogo beating Rais M’Bolhi in a one-on-one situation.

Both teams went to the locker room with that stalemate scoreline. However, a change made by Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi will turn things around for the home side.

The 45-year old tactician taook off badgda Bounedjah and brought in Soufiane Feghouli.

The latter scored few minutes after his entrance (68th) to restore the lead for Algeria. However, their poor defence will concede a penalty seven minute prior to the end of the game and Issoufou Dayo converted it.

The game ended in a 2-2 draw scoreline which means that Algeria are qualify to the next round as they have two more points (14) than Burkina Faso (12).
