Ghana FA issues strong response to 'irresponsible SAFA's falsehoods'

Ghana Football Association (GFA) has issued a strong answer to the allegations of South African Football Association (SAFA) over the FIFA World Cup qualifiers last Group G match between Ghana and South Africa.

SAFA are questioning the refereeing decisions of Mr Maguette Ndiaye who awarded a “soft penalty” to the Black Stars in the 33rd minute of the decise clash.

Andre Ayew converted it from the spot and that goal was enough for Ghana who qualified to the play-offs of the World Cup.

However, some os the says of the Senegalese referee before the game towards Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams rose a mountain of allegations over his impartiality in refereeing the game.

The South African Football Association have so far lodged complaint to both FIFA and CAF following the end of the game in order to investigate the officials of the match.

While the news is spreading all over the world, Ghana FA broke their silence and debunked all the allegations on them.

“It is shocking, irresponsible, and outright disrespect to note that our colleagues from South Africa Football Association (with whom we have good relationships with and mutual sporting respect) have chosen to spread falsehoods to the media rather than project the real picture of events before, during and after the game”, a statement on GFA website reads.

“Even though we believe that it is within the South African Football Association’s right to call for investigation, if they feel that certain factors contributed to their loss, we wish to state that the way and manner lies, and allegations have been thrown into the public space has been very irresponsible leading to injury and violence.

“We wish to state categorically that the allegations are frivolous, baseless and lacks merits and should be treated with all the contempt that it deserves. These allegations from South Africa Football Association are nothing but a planned scheme and a calculated attempt to shift focus from the defeat, divert attention from their failure to qualify for the play-offs and unjustly dent the hard-earned victory of the Black Stars.

“Is it not sad that even innocent Ball Boys (Ball Retrievers) were not spared in the allegations?”
