Nigerian striker Emmanuel Denis and his Senegalese counterpart Ismaila Sarr scored once each for Watford as they thumped Manchester United 4-1 on Saturday.

Earlier, Sarr had his penalty saved by United goalkeeper David De Gea before he was ordered to retake it and the United keeper made yet another save in the sixth minute.

Joshua King opened the scoring for Watford in the 28th minute before Sarr made amends for his earlier miss after drilling a long angled shot past De Gea with four minutes to half-time.

In the second half, Donny van de Beek scored in the 50 minute from Cristiano Ronaldo’s flick only for Watford to add more goals after United were reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of defender Harry Maguire.

Joao Pedro and Denis added two more goals for Watford in added time to hand United the fifth defeat in seven league games and cast doubt on the future of coach.

United remain on a distant seventh place with 17 points from 12 games whereas Watford are on position 12 with 13 points from 12 games.
