UEFA Champions League Besiktas v Ajax Amsterdam: Probable Line-Ups

Besiktas have their backs to the wall as they welcome high-flying Group C leaders Ajax Amsterdam at Vodafone Arena this evening of Wednesday.

The Turkish side will bank on the experience of former Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi with midfielder Miralem Pjanic, who is on loan from Barcelona, also expected to dictate play in this Uefa Champions League group match.

Ahead of the game, Ajax coach Erik ten Hag said he has a full squad from which to pick his best XI.

Ten Hag told a news conference that the Turkish opponents are fighting for the very last chance to make something out of this European season.

“This country is crazy about football. So it will be a difficult game for us. It’s not like they have nothing to play for. Turkish culture is a proud culture. Besiktas wants to beat Ajax to get back into the right mindset,” the coach told Ajax website.

Ajax will have to face Besiktas without the suspended Edson Álvarez.

In their last game, Ajax beat Dortmund 3-1 earlier this month whereas Besiktas were thrashed 4-0 by Sporting Libson.

The Dutch side will surely field Ivorian frontman Sebastien Haller who has seven goals to his credit this campaign two behind leading scorer for the competition this season, Robert Lewandwoski.

Dortmund are on second place with six points whereas Sporting lie third in the group also with similar points earned from four games each.

Ajax Amsterdam lead the group on 12 points whereas Besiktas from Turkey are yet to earn a point and anchor the table.
