UEFA Champions League Sporting Lisbon leapfrog Dortmund into second place

Sporting Lisbon leapfrogged 10-man Borussia Dortmund into second place of Group C of the Uefa Champions League after beating the Germans 3-1 on Wednesday evening.

Pedro Goncalves scored in the 30th and 39th minutes then Pedro Porro added the third goal in the 81st minute for the Portuguese side to take its tally to nine points from five games.

Sporting are six points behind runaway leaders Ajax Amsterdam.

The Bundesliga side dropped to third place on six points from five games after they were outplayed.

The evening turned from bad to worse for the Germans after Emre Can was red carded in the 74th minute. However, Malen pulled one goal back for Dortmund in added time.

Besiktas lie bottom without a win let alone a point in five games after they lost 1-2 to Ajax earlier on Wednesday.
