Sporting Lisbon welcome Borussia Dortmund in a Group C match of the Uefa Champions League at Estado Jose Alvalade on Wednesday evening.

At a post-match press conference, Sporting coach Rúben Amorim said he was confident of beating the Germans but it won’t be a stroll in the park.

 “I believe we can always do more and better. We have always said that we are in this competition to go through to the next stage, aware of the difference in experience. Borussia Dortmund were singled out as favourites in the group, but AFC Ajax did very well and are clearly the best team in the group at the moment. Nevertheless, despite Borussia Dortmund being used to decisive moments, we are going to go into  tomorrow’s game to compete,” he told the club’s website.

For the visitors, all eyes will certainly be on goal scoring machine Erling Haaland in this game.

The Bundesliga side is raring to catch up with runaway leaders Ajax Amsterdam.

Dortmund’s last domestic game ended in 2-1 win over Stuttguart over the weekend.

Dortmund are on second place with six points whereas Sporting lie third in the group also with similar points earned from four games each.

Ajax Amsterdam lead the group on 12 points whereas Besiktas from Turkey are yet to earn a point and anchor the table.
