African players abroad Daka is a different version of Vardy—Maddison

Leicester City player James Maddison has described team-mate Patson Daka as ‘a different’ version of Jamie Vardy, following the Zambian’s outstanding performance in the 4-0 thrashing of Newcastle United on Sunday.

Speaking in a post-match interview with Sky Sports, Maddison lauded the Zambian’s humility and work ethic.

He is like a very different Jamie Vardy almost you know. Very similar in the characteristics and the make up of a footballer. Brilliant, willing runner and all day long honest. Very brilliant; very humble and unselfish; a brilliant guy. You can talk to him and you can touch how humble he is. He works so hard for the team and he is very unselfish,” he said.

Daka earned only his second start this season ahead of Vardy and the Zambian made use of the chance.

Maddison put Leicester in front from the penalty spot after he was fouled.

Thereafter, Daka made it 2-0 after being set through by Harvey Barnes.

YouriTielemans and Maddison added two more goals for the hosts.

Daka has now registered seven goals since he joined the Foxes from Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg.

He is the leading Zambian scorer in the Premier League.

Wilfred Ndidi also featured for Leicester after he was introduced to replace injured Jonny Evans.
