Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen could make a shock return from injury this coming weekend when Napoli face AC Milan in a crunch Serie A clash.

The 22-year-old striker suffered major facial injuries in Napoli’s 3-2 loss to Internazionale last month. And the stiker was forced to undergo surgery.

It was expected that Osimhen would be sidelined for a lengthy time – likely even missing out on the Africa Cup of Nations in January and February of next year.

However, the Super Eagles star has made a much quicker than expected recovery. And he has even returned to individual training.

His participation in the key clash against the Rossoneri will be dependent on how he adapts to a protective face mask.

“Two days are enough to make it.” Said doctor Roberto Ruggiero, who will be in charge of the creation of the mask.

“We can also change it if the athlete has problems. It’s a mask that Osimhen can wear during training sessions to avoid accidental collisions with his teammates.”

Napoli, who have had to withstand a crippling number of injuries in recent weeks, would love to welcome Osimhen back, especially for the clash against Milan which is set to be a six-pointer in the race for the Scudetto.

The striker’s return is also great news for Nigeria with the Super Eagles gearing up for their AFCON campaign.
