FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP FIFA Arab Cup 2021: El Soleya Own Goal Sends Tunisia To Final

The FIFA Arab Cup 2021 semi-final game between North Africa giants ended in favour of Tunisia following a howler from Egypt player, El Soleya that saw the game ended 1-0.

The Carthage Eagles snatched a late minute goal in the 93rd minute to book their place in the final after El Soleya scored put the ball inside his own net.

The game sparked into life in the sixth minute with Tunisia getting the chance from a corner.

Hannibal Mejbri crossed it inside the penalty area, which was met by Montassar Talbi who headed it over the crossbar.

The Pharaohs first shot chance came from an unlikely source in centre back Ahmed Hegazi who took a long range effort but goalkeeper Mouez Hassan managed to catch it.

The Carthage Eagles then had to use their first substitution of the game in the 40th minute to replace the injured Yassine Meriah with Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane.

Tunisia saw their penalty rescinded after the referee consulted the VAR before he overturned in the 58th minute.

Mostafa Fathi could have put Egypt in front in the 75th minute skied his shot after a difficult pass from Marwan Hamdi.

Then in the dying seconds of the encounter, Mostafa Fathi fouled Tunisia’s captain Youssef Msakni on the edge of the penalty area.

The ball was then crossed in the 18-yard box but El-Sulya failed to properly clear it and headed it inside his own net.

Tunisia will await to know their final opponent after the second semi final game between Qatar and Algeria.

Meanwhile, the loser will face Egypt in the third place playoff.
