Liverpool Boss Jürgen Klopp revealed he had a discussion with Cameroonian centre-back Joel Matip and the latter told him what his stance is about a comeback to the Indomitable Lions.

Jean Matip, Joel’s father said weeks ago that he would like to see hi son with Cameroon during the coming Africa Cup of nations (AFCON) in the country.

However, he stated that the final decision will be made by the player himself and now we know what his decision is.

“(Joel) doesn’t consider (returning to international football),” Liverpool boss Klopp revealed, as per The Athletic.

“I spoke to him and he said no. It’s just news out there in the world with nothing behind (it).”

Aged 30 now, Joel Matip who did not play a game with Cameroon since 2015 would have definitely closed the national team page to concentrate with his club.
