Qatar national team manager, Felix Sanchez, expressed his delight after his team finished third in the Arab Cup after beating Egypt in the third place decider.

After losing their respective semi-finals to Tunisia and Algeria, Egypt and Qatar were pitted against one another in the third place playoff of the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup.

Egypt got several chances to take the lead. But the Pharaohs failed to convert any of them. And the game ended 0-0 after 120 minutes of playing time. The winner would therefore be decided in the penalty shootouts, where the hosts came out on top 5-4.

Sanchez congratulated the Qatari fans on the win, especially that it came on the country’s national day.

“Mabrook! Happy national day. I think it was a very nice game to watch very long, this stage is complicated. But the players showed their commitment and fought until the end. We only lost one game. But the minimum we deserved was to finish in the top three.” The Spaniard said in a post-game interview.
