2022 AFCON Playoffs AFCON 2021: Nigeria Opponent, Egypt Announce 40-Man Provisional Squad

Super Eagles 2021 African Cup of Nations opponent Egypt has released a 40-man provisional squad list ahead of the tournament.

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) in a statement said the final 24-man squad for the tournament scheduled to begin in Cameroon between 9 January and 6 February would be released by the end of December.

Leading the 40-man squad is Mohamed Salah, Arsenal’s midfielder Mohamed Elneny and Aston Villa winger Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan.

However, Tarek Hamed who was not part of the Pharaoh team at the just concluded FIFA Arab Cup was not also included in the list.

The seven-time African champions are in Group D with Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau and Sudan.
