AFCON AFCON: Playing For Super Eagles Is A Special Pride-Umar

Super Eagles new invitee Sadiq Umar has promised to prove his inclusion in the squad ahead of the 2022 African Cup of Nations AFCON.

The Almeria forward was among the 28 players invited by Super Eagles interim manager, Austin Eguavoen.

The forward in an interview with said it was dream come through for him and will be ready to honour the invitation.

Sadiq was earlier called up during the FIFA World Cup qualifiers but could not make it due to COVID-19.

The forward has netted 8 goals in 19 matches for the Rojiblancos this ongoing season in the Spanish Segunda B.

He said; “It’s a dream come true for me that finally, I will honour the invitation of the Super Eagles to serve my fatherland. “

“Although I have played for the U23 in the Olympics but playing for the senior team, Super Eagles, is a special kind of pride.

“I’m grateful to God for this opportunity and everybody that believe in me.

“I hope to do my very best to make Nigeria proud”.

Super Eagles are in Group D of the AFCON alongside Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau.
