AFCON Zimbabwe Claims First AFCON Victory After 16 Years

Zimbabwe recorded their first victory in the Africa Cup of Nations AFCON in Cameroon with a 2-1 victory over fancied Guinea but crashed out of the tournament.

The Warriors last won a game in the AFCON in 2006 and despite bowing out of the tournament; they will hold their head high.

Captain Knowledge Musona scored the opening goal for Zimbabwe in the 26th minute before Kudakwashe Mahachi doubled the lead in the 43rd minute.

Naby Keita reduced the deficit for the Guinean side three minutes into the second half.

Even with the loss, Guinea joined Senegal and Malawi finishing second behind Senegal who was held to a goalless draw by Malawi in the other Group B game.
