AFCON CAMEROON 2021 Clean bill of health for Gambia ahead of AFCON quarterfinal

All players for the Gambia are available for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarterfinal clash against hosts Cameroon on Saturday after testing negative for Covid-19.

The Gambia Football Federation has confirmed the availability of all the players from whom coach Tom Saintfiet can select his squad from.

The Gambia Football Federation is pleased to announce that Team Gambia, this morning, did their pre-match Covid19 tests at the Team’s Best Western Plus Hotel in Douala,” the federation tweeted on Thursday.

“All 27 players and staff tested negative and thus everyone is available for the biggest match on Saturday.”

The Gambia have proved to be one of the success stories of this edition of AFCON alongside eliminated Sierra Leone, Comoros and Malawi.

The Scorpions stunned Guinea 1-0 to qualify for the quarterfinal whereas the other minnows could only go as far as the Round of 16 stage.

Now, the Gambia face the test of the Indomitable Lions at Japoma Stadium on Saturday.
