AFCON CAMEROON 2021 Okocha rates Gabadinho’s wonder strike as AFCON best

Nigeria football legend Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha has said he rates Gabadinho Mhango’s goal for Malawi in the 2-1 loss to Morocco as probably the best strike so far at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Cameroon.

Okocha spoke about the Malawian striker’s goal on SuperSport TV on Saturday evening as a pundit previewing the quarterfinal game between Gambia and Cameroon.

I would say the goal from the striker from Malawi. His awareness, his control…. it shows that he saw the keeper was off his line. For me that stands out,” the former Bolton Wanderers midfielder said.

The Orlando Pirates forward scored a sensational long-range goal to put the Flames ahead in the Round-of-16 match on Tuesday.

However, the Atlas Lions responded with a double through Youssef En-Nesyri’s header and Achraf Hakimi free-kick in either half.

The Flames have since returned home where they received a hearty welcome in Blantyre on Friday.

Morocco are proceeding in the competition and they face Egypt in the quarterfinals.
