African players abroad Ex-Super Eagles Star Makes History In India Super League

Retired Super Eagles striker Bartholomew Ogbeche bagged a brace for Hyderabad FC in their 5-0 thrashing of Northeast United on Monday.  His two strikes took him to 49 goals in the Indian Super League (ISL). Ogbeche has thus become the highest goalscorer in the League.

The 37-year-old has been out of the spotlight for years. However, what he achieved yesterday earned him a place in the history books.

The Nigerian striker opened the scoring in the third minute and added his second in the 60th minute. Goals from Akash Mishra, Nikhil Poojary, and Edu Garcia completed the rout.

Ogbeche has spent three seasons in India, playing for Northeast United, Kerala Blasters, and Mumbai City before joining Hyderabad in July last year.

The former Nigeria international has been spectacular for Hyderabad FC since he arrived. Ogbeche has scored 14 goals in 13 appearances, helping his side to the summit of the ISL after 14 games.
