Malawi Bullets acquire Blantyre Zero Women’s Football Club

Malawi Super League champions Nyasa Big Bullets have acquired Blantyre Zero Women’s Football Club in compliance with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) requirements for all clubs wishing to participate in continental competitions.

CAF made it mandatory for all men’s football clubs that want to have a dance in the CAF Champions League to own a women’s side in a bid to develop women’s football.

In respect of this, Bullets Chief Executive Officer, Suzgo Nyirenda, has through a statement released on Thursday, confirmed the acquisition of Zero.

“Nyasa Big Bullets Football Club can confirm the acquisition of Blantyre Zero Women’s Football Club,” Nyirenda says in the statement.

“Following the Board’s approval and completion of the acquisition, the team is, with effect from 1st February 2022, known as Nyasa Big Bullets Women’s Football Team.”

The former Cosafa Vice-General Secretary has since said they want to turn the women’s club into a strong competitor in local and international competitions.

We are welcoming a new product on board and we believe Bullets will build a solid women’s team that will strongly compete at national level and be able to participate in regional and continental competitions,” Nyirenda said.
