AFCON CAMEROON 2021 Carlos Queiroz ready to pay price for unfair punishment

Egypt coach Carlos Queiroz has said he is ready to pay the price for his ’unfair’ dismissal in the Pharaohs’ semifinal win over Cameroon at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Thursday.

Queiroz will miss the final between Egypt and Senegal on Sunday evening after he received a red card from Gambian referee Bakary Gassama in the semifinal.

Lads; Road to Dreamland. I am ready to pay the price of this outrageous and unfair punishment of missing the final. I feel proud and honoured for that because I pay this price in my fight to protect you and our team,” he tweeted.

The Portuguese appeared to confront the officiating panel alleging that one of his players was punched.

Queiroz ended up missing the last stages of the game as it went into extra-time then post-match penalties, which the Pharaohs won 3-1.

Reacting to the incident, Queiroz earlier tweeted: “From such arrogant behavior and what I expect and hope was only incompetency and nothing else.

“We will reinforce with more power our “Spider Web Strategic” that was built up, with your efforts and sacrifices, developing our winning and team mentality.”

Queiroz will miss the final alongside his assistant Roger De Sar who was also expelled last week for allegedly using insulting gestures to an official for Morocco.

The football association for Egypt had, ahead of the meeting against Cameroon, protested against assignment of the Gambian referee, citing how he handled his previous assignments.
