Egyptian Players abroad Aston Villa Send Mahmoud Trezeguet Back To Turkish Super Lig On Loan

Mahmoud Trezeguet’s future under at Aston Villa was in danger as the club had acquired the signing of Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona last month as potential replacement.

The Egyptian international had only returned to the pitch last December after recovering from a long-term knee injury in April of last year. And since then, the midfielder managed to play just 10 minutes under Steven Gerrard in a 2-1 defeat to Brentford.

Rumors about Trezeguet’s return to Turkey are now confirmed as his club officially announced that he will be joining İstanbul Başakşehir on loan until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old is no stranger to the Turkish Super Lig, having represented Kasimpasa for two seasons, before making a €10 million move to Aston Villa in July 2019.

During his time with Kasimpasa, Trezeguet featured in 71 games, scoring 25 goals and providing 18 assists.

İstanbul Başakşehir currently sit fifth on the Turkish Super League table with 37 points. They are two points away from the top four, with one game in hand.

The club have already made a couple of strong winter signings, namely Serdar Gürler and Emre Colak. However, they have lost star man Edin Visca, who they now replaced with Mahmoud Trezeguet.
