AFCON CAMEROON 2021 Cisse doesn’t talk too much but is effective—Senegal President

Senegal President Macky Sall has hailed the Teranga Lions coach Aliou Cisse for talking less and delivering on the field of play following Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title winning exploits in Cameroon.

Sall said this on Monday at Sedar Senghor Airport in his address while welcoming Senegal who won the AFCON title for the first time in the country’s history.

“My dear Aliou Cissé, the coach who has received the highest distinction, the greatest record of Senegalese coaches, which is to win the African Cup of Nations,” Senegal’s Sudquotidien newspaper quoted Sall saying.

Aliou, congratulations with your Lions who entered the great story and through the front door. I would, therefore, like to thank them for this coronation, which has been sought after by so many generations of footballers, sportsmen and staff. At this moment, I can’t think of the great figures of football.”

Senegal saw off Egypt 4-2 on post-match penalties after 120 minutes of play had failed to separate the two sides.

Sadio Mane scored the decisive winning penalty to make up for a similar, which he wasted in the fourth minute of normal play.

The triumph was a timely reward for the Teranga Lions who lost 1-0 to Algeria in the final of the 2019 edition held in Egypt.
