Nigeria Premier League NPFL: Boboye Steps Aside As Akwa United Head Coach

Akwa United head coach Kennedy Boboye has stepped down as the manager of the club following a goalless draw against Heartland FC.

Boboye guided Akwa United to win the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL title last season.

The former Plateau United manager announced his decision to step down as the team was not not doing well.

He said; “I want to thank everybody at Akwa Utd for the time I have stayed in the team, but when the team is not doing well, the coach face the problems, I have just decided to stay out for the team to move on

Sunday’s goalless draw was the third consecutive one for the Promise Keepers who now found themselves in a tight condition to retain their title.

Boboye is the only coach in the NPFL who have won the title twice since the League Management Company (LMC) era.

The club was yet to confirmed the departure of Boboye.
