African players abroad Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reacts to scoring hat trick for Barcelona

Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has said he is happy to find his scoring touch with Barcelona after netting a hat-trick in the 4-1 win over Valencia in a La Liga match on Sunday.

Addressing the media after the game, Aubameyang said he was happy to have scored a hat trick again in Valencia.

He also scored a hat trick for Arsenal in a Europa League match against Valencia in May 2019.

The last time I played here I scored a hat-trick with Arsenal. I like playing here… Mestalla is like my home,” Aubameyang is quoted telling the Spanish media in a post-match interview.

The 32-year-old scored in his fourth appearance for Barcelona across all competitions.

Frenkie de Jong scored the other goal for Barcelona who are on fourth place on the log table, 15 points behind leaders and rivals Real Madrid.

Aubameyang left Arsenal in an acrimonious manner after falling out with coach Mikel Arteta who stripped the striker of the English club’s captaincy.

He then joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Arsenal having moved to the North London club from Borussia Dortmund in Germany in 2018.

The Gabonese striker scored 22 goals in 36 appearances for the Gunners compared to 98 goals in 144 matches for Dortmund.

Aubameyang is the captain for Gabon but he was no able to play at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon as he was down with Covid 19 and he was sent back to London after recovering.
