Pitso Mosimane

Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane regretted the chances his side wasted during their loss in CAF Champions league against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday evening (1-0).

The defending champions have only one point out of two games in the continental competition this season after the goalless draw in their opening game.

And he Red Devils could have made another draw yesterday but Thapelo Morena scored a late goal (85th minute) to give the away side all three points.

And Mosimane was naturally disappointed with the result at the end of the game.

“We wasted a lot of chances and we are sad to lose, but I can’t blame my players, they did all they could,” Mosimane said, as per KingFut.

“We put ourselves in a tough spot. Qualifying to the next stage will not be easy.

“Congratulations to Sundowns, they won the game. But it’s disappointing to lose a game after wasting many chances.”

Furthermore, the 57-year old said VAR should be used from CAF Champions league group stages.

“I believe VAR should be used in the group stage, but I am not blaming its absence. We had many goal-scoring chances and we have to learn from the defeat.

“Failing to score in two games put us under a lot of pressure but we will focus on the upcoming matches.

“We will do everything to win against Sundowns in South Africa, it’s possible.”
