Europe Shevchenko’s mother blocked in Ukraine amid war with Russia

AC Milan legend Andriy Shevchenko has confirmed that her mother and family members are blocked in Ukraine to whom Russia declared war las Thursday.

Speaking from London on Ukraine national television, the 2004 Ballon d’Or winner announced his mother Lyubov Mykolaivna Shevchenko and other members of his family are currently in Kiev, his country’s capital city.

“I am in London, but my mother, my family, my relatives, my friends, my people… they are all in Kiev,” Shevchenko told Ukrainian TV, as per Marca.

“I am very worried about everything that is happening. I want to thank the Army, Zelensky and all the Ukrainian people for defending our land. They are my heroes. I am very proud of my compatriots”, he added.

Thousands of Ukrainians have been fleeing from their country to neighboring ones especially Polska since Thursday, February 24 as Vladimir Putin ordered Russian Army to attack Kiev.

So far, the clashes have been extended to other towns of the country, compelling Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelensky to come down the field.
