Malawi Silver win Pamtsetse Bonanza ahead of Malawi season

Silver Strikers fired warning shots ahead of the new season in Malawi by beating Mighty Wanderers 1-0 to win pre-season Pamtsetse Soccer Bonanza on Sunday afternoon.

Striker Chawanangwa Kaonga scored in extra-time after 90 minutes had failed to produce the winner between the two teams at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Kaonga, who rejoined Silver months ago from South Africa’s Sporting FC, was also on target in the 1-0 semifinal win over Nyasa Big Bullets.

Silver avenged the 1-0 loss they suffered to Bullets in the NBS Charity Cup final at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre last week.

Wanderers reached the final after seeing off Civo Sporting 2-0 on Saturday when Vincent Nyangulu and new signing Chiukepo Msowoya the scorers.

Nzika Flood Response organized the bonanza to raise funds for flood survivors.

Silver were without coach Daniel Kabwe who is in Tanzania attending a Caf A-Coaching Licence.

Assistant coach Macdonald Yobe took charge of Silver.

The teams used the bonanzas to fine tune for the 2022 season set to start on March 19.
