Africa Soccer Mozambique coach names 8 Europe-based players for Mauritania tourney

Mozambique’s Mambas coach Francisco Queirol Conde Júnior has released a 23-member squad comprising eight Europe-based players.

Conde unveiled the squad at Mozambique Football Federation (FMF) headquarters in Maputo on Friday ahead of the Mambas’ participation in Nouakchott International Tournament scheduled for Mauritania later this month.

The squad comprises 11-home based players with the rest being drawn elsewhere in Africa and Europe.

Mozambique squad will arrive in Mauritania on 20 March whereas the Europe-based legion, led by Atletico Madrid defender Reinildo Mandava, will fly straight to Mauritania.

The Mambas will face Niger on March 23 and Mauritania three days later in the tournament that also involves Libya.

The Mambas will use the Fifa window for international matches to fine-tune for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nation qualifiers.

Mambas official Martinho Mucuana told FMF website that they received offers for friendlies from other teams but they opted for Mauritania because it was cost effective and offers convenience to players.
