Malawi under-23 national football team beat Kuwait 2-0 in the opener for Antalya mini-international tournament in Turkey on Thursday evening.

Innocent Shema and Chifundo Mphasi scored for Malawi who were captained by Moldova-based defender Charles Petro.

The Flames elected to travel to Turkey with the hastily assembled under-23 team to give them exposure.

Malawi will face Togo on March 28 at the invitational tournament.

The event has also attracted Zambia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Congo, Benin, Burundi and Tajikistan.
