Africa Soccer Nigeria vs Ghana : Andre Ayew confident Black Stars can ‘surprise’ Super Eagles in Abuja

Andre Ayew

Black Stars captain Andre Ayew said Ghana can stun Nigeria in Abuja even though Super Eagles will be at home for the return leg of their World Cup playoff clash.

Ghana and Nigeria played out a goalless draw on Friday night in Kumasi at a full Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

And Nigeria will also have 60,000 supporters behind them when they host Black Stars at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium on Tuesday (17:00GMT).

However, Andre Ayew is confident that Otto Addo’s men can snatch the qualification to 2022 World Cup in Abuja.

“If you ask me, I am happy with the result. I would say yes because football has changed a lot and I know for sure that we can go to Nigeria and surprise them,” Ayew after the first leg in Kumasi.

“As far as I am concerned, I am very much optimistic that the Black Stars can make it to the World Cup in Qatar.

“I also know that Nigeria’s home record is not really good. I also believe that the Super Eagles will be under a lot of pressure in Abuja on Tuesday, particularly as they could not score against us.

“But I am a bit disappointed in our fans. Yes, they came in their numbers but then, they were not really on top of their voices to support the Black Stars, I think they wanted to see the team score first, but overall, I hail our fans.”
