FIFA World Cup Nigeria Federal Government Directs Offices To Close For Support To Super Eagles

A mammoth clash looms as Nigeria host arch-rivals Ghana in the second-leg of the 2022 World Cup playoff on Tuesday. The result will decide which side qualifies for the competition to be played in Qatar later this year.

To ensure maximum support for the Super Eagles against Ghana, the Federal Government has directed all offices to close from 1. 00 pm today.

The circular to that effect, was issued on behalf of the Head of Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi- Esan by the Permanent Secretary (Service Welfare), Ngozi Onwudiwe dated March 28, 2022 with the title: “FIFA Qatar 2022 World Qualifier Between Nigeria and Ghana.

Arising from the need to extend overwhelming support and solidarity to the Nigeria National Football Team (Super Eagles) … I am directed to convey approval for early closure of work on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.” Read a part of the circular.

For emphasis, all offices across the Secretariats, Departments and Agencies of the FCT Administration are to be closed for work by 12p.m. being Tuesday, March 29, 2022 to enable staff proceed to National Stadium and watch the scheduled football match which will kick-off at 4:00pm.” It continued

The circular was addressed to all federal permanent secretaries to ensure full compliance.

Onwudiwe said the permanent secretaries were requested to give the circular wide publicity to achieve the desired result.
