Europa League Europa League:Van Bronckhorst Blame Balogun For Rangers Loss

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has criticised Leon Balogun for his mistake in the build-up to Sporting Braga’s only goal in the Europa League quarter-final first leg match on Thursday night.

The Gers lost 1-0 at Estadio Municipal do Braga, with Abel Ruiz scoring the game’s only goal five minutes before halftime.

Balogun was substituted by Borna Barisic in the 62nd minute after failing to clear the ball correctly in the build-up to the goal.

“You’re always disappointed when you get goals against. I think there was a slight deflection I think, Leon couldn’t hit the ball properly away,”Van Bronckhorst told a press conference after the game.

“I haven’t seen the goal back but it happened fast. It’s always disappointing when you get a goal against, that’s normal.”

Rangers will try to recover a 1-0 lead when they face Braga in the second leg at Ibrox Stadium next Thursday.
