African players abroad Kelechi Iheanacho, Daka and co fail to earn Leicester win

Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho failed to score for Leicester City and so was the case with Zambian Patson Daka as the Foxes settled for a 1-1 draw with Everton on Wednesday evening.

Iheanacho was named in the starting line up as the main striker whereas Daka came off the bench for Leicester who scored the opener through Harvey Barnes.

However, Everton, who featured Nigerian Alex Iwobi, stole the points in added time through Brazilian Richarlison to deny Leicester a Premier League win.

Iheanacho nearly gave Leicester a second goal but his deflected attempt in the 70th minute did not pay dividends.

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers removed the Nigerian and brought on Daka.

The Zambian, who is on a goal drought, nearly fashioned a goal as he set up James Maddison, who ended up hitting his effort against the side-netting.

Rodgers also introduced Ghanaian Daniel Amartey to replace Senegal’s Mendy but there was little impact.
