Angola Mamelodi Sundowns’ Lyle Lakay identifies Petro de Luanda’s dangermen

Mamelodi Sundowns have identified key players the DStv Premiership team needs to tame in order to defeat visiting Angolan side Petro de Luanda at FNB Stadium in South Africa on Saturday.

Sundowns player Lyle Lakay singled out Brazilian Tiago Azulão as among the threats for the Angolans in the CAF Champions League quarterfinal second leg match. Tiago scored in the first leg.

“We did our analysis and we identified a few of them. For example, their striker, Tiago, his movement and also the other guys. We also analysed their away games they played in the group stages. I think they play a different game away to when they play at home,” Lakay told Sundowns website.

Lakay, who scored in the 2-1 loss to Petro de Luanda in Luanda last week, described the second leg game as a must-win for Sundowns who are chasing a second Champions League crown.

The goals we conceded were [due to] errors and we got punished. We have to rectify that and go into the match knowing that we have to win and we have to qualify,” he added.

Sundowns have won twice in five meetings across all competitions against the Angolans.

The Pretoria-based side had not lost in this year’s edition of the Champions League until they met their match in Luanda last week.

Petro have since jetted in South Africa for the second leg.
