Some players for Petro de Luanda have said they are calm ahead of the potentially tough encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League quarterfinal second leg match on Saturday.

The players for the Angolan giants spoke after their first training session at Witwatersrand University sports complex in Johannesburg ahead of the match at FNB Stadium.

Petro players Tiago Azulão and Eddie Afonso said they had no qualms with the weather in South Africa.

 “The weather here is a little different, but it’s not too cold either,” Tiago told Petro website.

“We have adapted. The team is very calm and very focused on having a great game here and qualify for the semi-final. The training was good. We know the importance of this game, but we are calm knowing what we have to do to achieve this feat which will be very important for Petro.”

Commenting on the game, right-back Eddie Afonso said they were in South Africa eyeing nothing short of a semifinal slot.

“The weather is not a problem for us. We have to play our game and be focused. We know it will be a difficult game, but the team is focused on what it has to do on the pitch to qualify,” he said.

Coach Alexandre Santos has been drilling his wards on keeping possession and putting pressure when not in possession.

The majority of Petro players are in sound health save for Kinito and Jaredi who have some pains.

Petro de Luanda won the first leg 2-1 last week and now face Sundowns.
