CAF Champions League EFA Request Neutral Venues For CAF CL And CC Finals

The 2022 CAF Champions League is reaching its final stages as only four teams are left competing for the title. And The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has urged in a letter the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to hold the final of both the Champions League and the Confederation Cup on neutral venues to “ensure equality” between different teams, according to and EFA statement Saturday.

The four title contenders are Egypt’s Al Ahly, Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca, Algeria’s ES Setif, and Angola’s Petro de Luanda.

Ahead of the semi-finals taking place next month, CAF will have to decide a venue for the tournament’s finale.

While CAF didn’t announce the chosen stadium yet, rumors indicate that a Moroccan stadium could be hosting the final for the second year in a row.

The EFA made an official statement addressing the situation, requesting a neutral venue for the tournament’s finale.

The Egyptian Football Association contacted CAF in order to stress the importance of choosing a neutral venue for the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup finals.” EFA said.

In order to have a fair final for the tournaments, the game shouldn’t be taking place in one of the represented countries [Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Angola].
