News Brighton hand Manchester United embarrassing defeat

Manchester United suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to Brighton and Hove in a Premier League match on Saturday afternoon.

Zambian Enock Mwepu was in the thick of things for Brighton before he left the pitch injured, but what mattered was the comprehensive win over the struggling giants.

Moises Caicedo gave Albion a first half lead at the Amex.

Albion added further goals from Marc Cucurella, Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard without reply.

In a post-match interview, Albion coach Graham Porter said they fully deserved the comprehensive win.

“It was one the great days. We’ve had a bit of pain in front of our own supporters this season so we owed them one – it was a fantastic performance and an amazing result.

“In an ideal world you want to get most of your points in front of your own supporters because it makes things feel better, so it was nice to give them a memory like that – we’re delighted,” he told Albion website.

United are on a distant position six with 58 points from 37 games three places ahead of Brighton who have 48 points.
