Africa Mosimane rues missed scoring chances following goalless draw with National Bank of Egypt

Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane was left ruing missed chances in the goalless away draw with National Bank of Egypt on Wednesday in the Egyptian Premier League.

Mosimane attributed the result to fatigue after his squad returned from Algeria a few days ago from a CAF Champions League semifinal second leg match.

We just came back after a long trip from Algeria,” the South African told the club’s website.

“We had Ali Maaloul, Amr El Soulia, and Hamdy Fathy out from today’s match. Taher as well came after ten minutes from the start of the second half and told us ‘I’m finished. On the other side, our opponent was rested and had enough time to prepare for our game.”

However, Mosimane said he was not using fatique as an excuse.

However, it is part of football, we don’t want to make excuses. We had three chances. Maybe, Sherif could’ve scored one.  We kept pushing and pushing,” he said.

“We took Mohamed El Shenawy out due to him being injured. I tried to refresh the team. I played Wahid, who was very well today. I also played Afsha, Rabia , and Sherif as well.”

Al Ahly remain on third place with 35 points from 15 games, after having played four games less than leaders Zamalek who have 41 points.
