News Mamelodi Sundowns beat Marumo Gallants to win Nedbank Cup

South Africa’s all-conquering Mamelodi Sundowns beat Marumo Gallants 2-1 to claim the Nedbank Cup trophy on Saturday.

Leading Namibian striker Peter Shalulie and Themba Zwane scored for Sundowns.

The win made it a trebble of trophies this season for Sundowns who added on to Telkom Knockout and the DStv Premiership silverware.

Shalulile made the most of a loose ball to finish into the net and give Sundowns the lead.

However, Gallants were not giving up yet as they equalized through Dion.

The afternoon for Gallants became dampened when they were reduced to 10 men following the red carding of Phillip Ndlondlo for a second yellow card.

The numerical disadvantage proved costly for Gallants who never came back.

Confirmed line-ups:

Sundowns: Mweene, Kekana, B.Onyango, Lakay, Mudau, Jali, Maboe, Kutumela, Sirino, Maema, Shalulile.

Gallants: Arubi, Khiba, Gumede, Mabotja, Nonyane, Timm, Ngema, Otladisa, Sibeko, Ndlondlo, Molangoane
