AFCON Burkina Faso remain top of group B

Burkina Faso remain top of Group B after thrashing 10-man Eswatini 3-1 in South Africa on Tuesday afternoon in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Dango Outtara scored twice for Burkinas Faso with the other goal coming from Ki and Sabelo Ndzinisa netting the consolation for the hosts.

Eswatini, who hosted the match at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, were reduced to 10 men after Lindo Mkhontha was red carded.

Burkina Faso were without coach Hubert Velud who was ruled out of the match after testing positive for Covid-19.

Velud missed the match alongside key players Hervé Koffi, Fessal Tapsoba and Ismaila Ouedraogo.

Burkina Faso lead the group with six points following the back to back wins.

Eswatini and Togo are on second and third places with one point apiece.

Cape Verde, who date Togo, later this week anchor the table. Only top two teams from the group will sail through to the AFCON finals in Ivory Coast next year.
