Nigeria Dare Orders NPFL Club Not To Use MKO Abiola Stadium

For the time being, Sports Minister Sunday Dare has instructed clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) not to use the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

The order was issued in response to Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro’s complaint over the status of the playing surface following a training session on Sunday.

On Monday, the Super Eagles did not train on the pitch to allow groundsmen to prepare it for Thursday’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Sierra Leone Stars.

They had their practise on Monday at the stadium’s practise pitch.

We have to keep the stadium’s main pitch in good shape for use for international matches involving the national teams,” he said.

The League Management Company exiled Kano Pillars to Abuja following crowd disturbance in their home match against Katsina United.
