The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon beat Burundi in their opening game in the AFCON 2023 qualifiers to go on top of Group C.
Rigobert Song’s men were due to face off with Kenya for the matchday 1. However, the match could not take place as CAF and FIFA sanctioned the Harambee Stars due to political interference.
Vincent Aboubakar and his teammates then played a friendly against the local national team which they won 4-1 last week.

This afternoon’s game against Burundi was their first in the qualifiers.
Karl Toko Ekambi netted the only goal in the 30th minute to hand them the victory and top post in Group C.
Cameroon will take on Namibia in September for matchday 3.
