News Manchester City legend Vincent gets Burney company

Former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has been named as the new coach for relegated Premier League side Burnley.

The City legend, who was coaching back home in Belgium, has replaced long serving Sean Dyce who lost his job as Burnley boss late last season.

Last season, Kompany led Anderlecht to third place, European qualification and the Belgian Cup Final.

Speaking to Burnely website, the former Belgian captain said he was looking forward to the coaching challenge.

Burnley Football Club is a truly historic English side and it is an honour to be appointed first-team manager,” Kompany said. “I’m excited by the challenge ahead.

“I’m looking forward to getting to work with the players and creating a positive, winning team for our fans when we return to Turf Moor.”

Kompany, whose father is originally from Congo, won four Premier League titles with City.
