
South Africa’s Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis has released five players from camp training underway in Johannesburg.
The release of Rhoda Mulaudzi, Reitumetse Chabana, Lonathemba Mhlongo (injured), Cimone Sauls and Lelona Daweti reduces the squad to 26 players.
Ellis has trimmed the squad ahead of the scheduled announcement of his final squad for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WACON) in Morocco next month.
The coach is expected to release her squad at a press conference at SAFA House on Monday, according to South African Football Association statement.
Linda Motlhalo for Djurgardens in Sweden and Hildah Magaia for Sejong Sportstoto in South Korea are yet to join the team as the seasons in the two countries are underway.
Banyana Banyana are in the same group with fellow favourites Nigeria, minnows Burundi and Botswana at the continental event scheduled for the cities of Rabat and Casablanca.
