Egypt ‘Carlos Queiroz is in talks with EFA to take over Egypt again’

Carlos Queiroz

South African coach Roger de Sa who was assistant to Carlos Queiroz during their spell at the helm of Pharaohs confirmed that there are talks between the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) and the Portuguese gaffer for him to take over again.

Queiroz and his staff were fired by the end of March for failing to secure a 2022 World Cup ticket for Egypt following their loss to Sadio Mane’s Senegal in Diamniadio.

After their departure, EFA hired Ehab Gahal to take over the Pharaohs but their surprising loss (0-2) against Ethiopia in the AFCON 2023 qualifiers and the heavy defeat to South Korea in friendly (1-4) got the better of him.

He and his men have also been sacked with rumors claiming now Egyptian FA are considering hiring back Carlo Queiroz. And the news is confirmed by his former assistant Roger de Sa.

“Negotiations [with the EFA] are already underway,” Roger de Sa told ONTime Sports, as per KingFut.

“He [Queiroz] told me he hasn’t made a decision yet and would not talk about it until Monday. I don’t know what his decision will be, but we always talk to each other.

“Returning to coach Egypt is not an issue for him, but of course, the final decision is in his hands.

“We were obviously frustrated by not qualifying for the World Cup because we really wanted to stay with the Egyptian national team for a longer period.

“He is a professional man who is very demanding in his work.

“We were asking for so many things on a daily basis in terms of information about all the players and because he wanted a stable structure for the team.

“With all these requests, there was support and positive reactions to everything he was asking for.”
