Nigeria AWCON 2022: Waldrum Names Super Falcons Final Squad

Super Falcons Head Coach Randy Waldrum has picked Captain Onome Ebi and 24 other players to represent Nigeria at the 12th Women Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Morocco, 2nd – 23rd July.

The 25-woman squad list was revealed on Friday ahead of the competition.

The squad is made up of just two home based players, Gift Monday who finished as top scorer in the just concluded 2021-2022 Nigeria Women Football League NWFL.

Nigeria, which has triumphed in nine of the previous eleven Women’s Africa Cup of Nations competitions, defeated Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire in the qualifying round and will face South Africa, Botswana, and Burundi in the group stages in Morocco.


On Monday, July 4, they face the Banyana Banyana in their opening match at the Prince Heritier Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, followed by contests against Botswana on Thursday, July 7, and Burundi on Sunday, July 10.

All four of the tournament’s semifinalists from Morocco will be represented at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia/New Zealand in the summer of 2023 by all four of the tournament’s semifinalists from Morocco.
