Africa Soccer Malawi names 3 stars in Hollywoodbets Cosafa Cup squad

Three foreign land-based players have made it into Malawi’s Hollywoodbets Cosafa Cup squad.

Malawi coach Mario Marinica released the 23-member squad on Friday at a press conference held at Mpira House in Blantyre.

The coach has drafted in the squad Mozambique based captain John Banda, Peter Banda (Simba, Tanzania), Gabadinho Mhango (AmaZulu, SA) and Khuda Muyaba (Polokwane City, SA).

Marinica has included uncapped Civil Service United defender Kelvin Kadzinje and Nyasa Big Bullets midfielder Patrick Mwaungulu.

Experienced Blue Eagles defender Sankhani Mkandawire has also made it in the final squad after being out of Flames setup for over six year.

First choice keeper Charles Thom and defender Chembezi Denis are out injured.

The Flames are set for group B battle at the tournament scheduled for Durban from July 5 to 17.

Malawi are in the same group with Mauritius, Lesotho and Eswatini with the overall winner to progress to the quarterfinal stage.

Defenders: Stanley Sanudi (Mighty Wanderers), Paul Ndhlovu (Mafco), Blessings Mpokera, Gomezgani Chirwa, Precious Sambani (Bullets), Kelvin Kadzinje, Dan Chimbalanga (Civil), Sankhani Mkandawire (Blue Eagles).

Midfielders: John Banda (UD Songo, Mozambique), Chimwemwe Idana (Big Bullets), Peter Banda (Simba), Yamikani Chester (Wanderers), Micium Mhone (Blue Eagles), Chikoti Chirwa (Red Lions), Lloyd Njaliwa (Moyale Barracks), Patrick Maungulu (Bullets).

Strikers: Gabadinho Mhango (AmaZulu, SA), Khuda Muyaba (Polokwane City, SA), Stenie Davie (Silver Strikers), Chikukepo Msowoya (Wanderers), Schumaker Kuwali (Eagles).
