Asisat Oshoala will be able to recover in time for his team’s upcoming Africa Women’s Cup of Nations AWCON 2022 match against Botswana, according to Randy Waldrum.

In Monday night’s 2-1 loss to the Banyana Banyana of South Africa, Oshoala suffered an injury.

Despite being knocked to the ground by a South African player early in the game, the striker continued to play until the 82nd minute.

Francisca Ordega took over as the Barcelona Femeni star.

Waldrum is certain that his star forward won’t sit out for an extended period of time.

I think she will be fine, the doctors will check her and I am hopeful for a positive update,” the American gaffer told reporters.

Responding on the loss of the Super Falcons in the Group C opener of the AWCON, Waldrum said the camp is still bubbling with positivity.

“Despite the loss, we are still positive in camp. It is obviously the first game of the tournament so we have to go back and regroup.

We have to increase our urgency in the fighting spirit because we are encouraged by it.

We have to play the way we played in the last 10-15 minutes so that we get going.”

On Thursday, the Super Falcons will play Botswana.

Botswana beats fellow debutantes Burundi 4-2 on Monday night to take the group lead on goal differential.
